Meet the SGA (Taylor Joy)

Hi! My name is Taylor Joy and I am your Student Government Association President. I am from Emmitsburg, Maryland, which is a fairly rural area. When I first came to Stevenson, I was overjoyed by the proximity of the Wal-Mart, Target, and all of the eateries we have available. I like this area because it has the convenience of all of the stores Reisterstown has to offer, while Greenspring offers so much beauty. I always knew I wanted to go to a smaller school with smaller class sizes, but for going to a smaller university I have found so many wonderful experiences here.

In high school, when I faced with the dreaded question “what do I want to do with my life”, I reflected upon the fact that I love children and always found psychology intriguing. It really interests me how everyone learns and processes information. This brings me to today, where I am in my junior year at Stevenson studying Elementary Education. On campus, I am also a Student Ambassador, a member in the Best Buddies Club, Teacher of Tomorrow, and Junior Class Council.

My involvement in the Student Government has spanned over many years, as I have been involved since middle school. This year with Student Government at Stevenson, I hope to gain a larger presence on campus and show transparency. As our first step in this direction, the SGA has begun to send out press releases to focus on concerns that span across campus. Check them out! I hope for Stevenson students to be able to have trust in the SGA to come to us with their concerns. So please feel free to always reach out to us!
